Introduction

The Employee Assistance Council of Africa (EACA) is a forum representing the various regions of Africa with an aim to provide a platform for collaboration, networking, and advocacy to advance the field of EAPs in Africa.

Through our advocacy, collaborative network, education and establishment of culturally relevant and evidence-based EAP solutions, we aspire to be the leading voice for EAPs throughout Africa providing leadership, resources and support to our members as they strive to enhance the well-being of employees and organizations, thus contributing to the development of more productive, harmonious and successful workplaces.

• Promote high-quality EAPs in Africa.
• Advocate for recognition of EAPs in organizational wellness.
• Provide a forum for sharing best practices and research.
• Support professional development of EAP practitioners.
• Encourage formation of country EAP branches.
• Establish structures and recognize achievements in EAP.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to advance EAPs.
• Manage and oversee the bi-annual ‘EAP for Africa’ conference.

Functions

The functions of EACA include but are not limited to:

  • Providing a platform for networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among EA professionals (EAPs) in Africa.
  • Developing and promoting standards of practice for EAPs in Africa.
  • Advocating for policies and regulations that support the growth and sustainability of EAPs in Africa.
  • Offering training, certification, and other professional development opportunities for EAP practitioners in Africa.
  • Conducting research and publishing resources related to EAPs in Africa.
  • Representing the interests of EAPs in Africa in regional and international forums..

Relationship with EAPA International

The relationship between the Employee Assistance Council of Africa (EACA) and EAPA International is one of partnership and collaboration. EACA was established in response to a mandate from EAPA International to develop and promote employee assistance programs (EAPs) across the African continent. As such, EACA adheres to the EAPA International Code of Ethics and governance standards, ensuring that its activities and initiatives align with the values and principles of EAPA International.

Country and General Assembly Membership

Membership in EACA is open to all individuals and countries in Africa that are involved in the provision or support of EAPs. All members are expected to adhere to the constitution, principles, and objectives and to contribute actively to its activities and initiatives.

"EAP for Africa" Pan-African Conference

Our Pan-African conference is hosted once every two years and serves as a vital platform for promoting and strengthening EAPs across the continent. This landmark event brings together EA professionals, mental health advocates, and organizational leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue, share best practices, and explore innovative solutions to the unique wellness challenges faced by African workplaces.

With a strong focus on collaboration, policy advocacy, and workplace mental health, the conference is instrumental in shaping a future where employee well-being is central to organizational growth and sustainability in Africa.
